Died in The Line of Duty

Jon Alex Cooke was born February 26, 1970 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Jon grew up in Plantation, graduating from South Plantation High School in 1988. Following graduation, Jon enlisted in United States Army, serving as a Military Police Officer for the 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in March of 1992.

Jon joined the Hollywood Police Department on May 25th, 1998. Jon served the Hollywood community in the Patrol Division, the Traffic Unit and as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division. In 2013, Jon was assigned as a Burglary Detective in Investigations. In 2015, Jon joined the Violent Crimes Unit where he tenaciously investigated cases involving violent criminals preying on the members of our community until the time of his passing.

As an avid outdoorsman, Jon took great pride in mentoring youth and assisting combat Veterans by including them in his hunting and fishing endeavors.

Jon is survived by his twin brother Tim, a Coconut Creek as a police officer, and his younger brother JD, who is a Sunrise police officer.
